Repeating A Course

Due to the popularity of some PRW instructors you may not repeat a course with the same instructor offered at the same location within a year of your attendance. Exceptions: Same instructor / different course = no problem. Same instructor / different location = no problem. Different instructor / same course = no problem.

Camera & Computer

Camera Gear & Skills – Students are expected to provide camera gear appropriate for the content of their workshop. Unless specifically designed as a “point-and-shoot” class, our workshops are oriented to students with DLSRs (digital single lens reflex cameras). Students with film cameras are encouraged to bring a digital camera to maximize their learning experience. If you wish to rent camera gear, we can refer you to reputable companies. Intermediate classes require that a student be familiar with the basic concepts of exposure (the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO) and how to change these settings on the camera.

Computer Gear & Skills - As our workshops are based on location, students should bring a laptop computer with Bridge/Photoshop or Lightroom installed. At a minimum, students should be able to get their images from camera to computer, make general tone/contrast adjustments and copy selected images out for daily critique by the instructor. At present, Paso Robles Workshops does nothave a centralized location where this can be done.

Suitability For Classes

Portfolio Reviews – To assure that students are ready for our Intermediate and Advanced workshops, PRW requires that applicants submit a portfolio of 10 images for review. Details here.

Suitability - PRW reserves the right to not accept a prospective student’s application if PRW feels that the student is not suited for a workshop.

Personality and Participation – The PRW workshop experience is based upon mutual respect and cooperation between the instructor and participants. The open exchange of ideas and experiences is vital to the success of our program. It is unacceptable for a student to try to dominate a workshop or to participate in a manner that it overtly negative or challenging towards an instructor or student. Students who cannot abide by this philosophy will be dismissed without refund.
